ARC Raiders Field Crafting: Turn Materials Into a Useful Next Action

EXTRACTION NOTES editorial desk · Published 18 October 2026 · 3 min read · Approx. 635 words

Field crafting is a decision made while the raid continues around you. Compare the actual recipe, the cost of the materials and the time spent in the menu before converting an item.

Read what you can make now

Embark's field-crafting guide describes the Crafting tab in the inventory and filters for recipes supported by the materials you carry. Use the current in-game list rather than assuming a remembered recipe or an old image still applies.

Name the immediate need: a useful improvised item, inventory space or another supported function. A recipe being available does not establish that crafting it is the best use of the materials. Keep the raid objective and the expected route to extraction in view.

This guide focuses on the decision inside the raid, separate from the site's broader stash organization and post-raid workshop routine. The question is whether the conversion improves the next part of the current trip enough to justify what it consumes and the attention it requires.

Choose a protected moment for the menu

Reach a position where you can pause without ignoring an obvious threat or blocking the squad's movement. Opening the inventory does not stop the rest of the raid. Tell teammates if you need a short moment and avoid assuming they know you are no longer watching the same angle.

Check the actual recipe and quantity before confirming. Similar-looking materials can have different future uses. If one is required for the raid's objective or a planned upgrade, include that opportunity cost in the choice.

For a worked example, a Raider can craft an immediately useful item but would spend the last material reserved for a confirmed objective. They compare whether the immediate need can be solved by changing route or extracting, rather than treating every available recipe as an instruction to consume the resource.

Treat recycling as an irreversible conversion

Embark's guide also describes field recycling through an item's details. Inspect the actual output and the item being selected before confirming. Do not confuse clearing a view filter with breaking down an item, and do not assume the original can be restored afterward.

Compare the output with your immediate recipe and carrying constraints. A component is useful when it enables a needed action or supports a known return goal, not simply because it occupies a smaller-looking space. Keep quest or project items separate in your reasoning.

If the menu or output differs from an old guide, use the current game and official update notes. Avoid bulk conversions based on a screenshot with an unknown version. One mistaken item can matter more than the small time saved by confirming without reading.

Verify the result before moving

Check that the crafted item or recycled output is actually present in the expected place and that the next action is ready. A menu animation alone does not tell you whether you selected the intended quantity or item.

Tell the squad when you are ready to continue and reassess the local situation. Sounds, movement or remaining time may have changed while you managed inventory. Do not resume the old route automatically if new information makes it unsuitable.

Finish the raid review with the conversion's purpose and result. Did it solve the immediate need, consume a resource that mattered later or create an unnecessary pause? This keeps field crafting connected to survival and extraction decisions. It is more useful than memorizing a list of conversions without knowing when a particular one supports the trip you are actually taking.

Questions that come up

Should every available recipe be crafted?

No. Compare the immediate benefit with materials, time and the raid objective. Availability is only one condition.

Can I assume recycling can be undone?

No. Treat it as a conversion and inspect the selected item and output before confirming.

Does this page list permanent recipe quantities?

No. Use the current in-game list and official updates for exact requirements.
